CAMARILLO, CA - The Lucix Corporation today announced that it has been awarded a contract to build flight High Power Q-Band Dielectric Resonator Oscillators (HPDROs) for the Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) payload that is being built at Northrop Grumman for the NPOES system.
The Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) collects atmospheric data to permit the calculation of global atmospheric temperature, and water vapor profiles. The HPDRO Units provide frequency reference for the subsystem. Lucix’s proprietary microwave technologies allow for exceptional performance on key requirements such as ultra-low phase noise, very high frequency stability, low mass, small size, and minimum DC power consumption.
About the ATMS Program -- The ATMS sensor is one of several included on the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS). The NPOESS will converge existing polar-orbiting satellite systems under a single national program. The program is managed by the tri-agency Integrated Program Office (IPO) utilizing personnel from the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense and NASA (www.ipo.noaa.gov).
