CAMARILLO , CA - The Lucix Corporation today announced that it has been awarded a contract to build flight Local Oscillator (LO) Units for the CMIS payload program that is being built at Boeing’s Satellite Development Center in El Segundo , California.

The Conical Scanning Microwave Imager/Sounder (CMIS) collects global microwave radiometry and sounding data to produce microwave imagery and other meteorological and oceanographic data. The LO Units provide frequency reference for the subsystem. Lucix’s proprietary microwave technologies allow for exceptional performance on key requirements such as ultra-low phase noise, low mass, small size, and minimum DC power consumption.

CMIS Program -- The Conical Scanning Microwave Imager/Sounder collects global microwave radiometry and sounding data to produce microwave imagery and other meteorological and oceanographic data. Data types include atmospheric temperature and moisture profiles, clouds, sea surface winds, and all-weather land/water surfaces. The CMIS program is one of several sensors of the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS). The NPOESS will converge existing polar-orbiting satellite systems under a single national program. The program is managed by the tri-agency Integrated Program Office (IPO) utilizing personnel from the Department of Commerce, Department of Defense and NASA ( www.ipo.noaa.gov).
